Guests Are Saying"
There is no secret so close as that between a rider and his horse.

of Experience at Spotted Fever Ranch:
The experience my sister and I had for her 59 + 1 birthday, a dream
of hers to see wild mustangs in there natural habitat, was not only
met, but exceeded
by all expectations. It started with being welcomed into Pat and
Rick Binger's gracious home which was surrounded by snow-capped
You immediately felt at home and very special.
If your goal is to see wild mustangs and gorgeous scenery on the
back of a well trained and sure-footed horse, you won't be disappointed.
The first day we rode through sage brush hills and viewed many different
bands of wild mustangs in their natural habitat while observing
nothing short of magnificent!
The second day riding along the Rio Grande which we forded by horseback
in our search for wild mustangs, was totally thrilling in itself.
Sharing the Binger's authentic ranch life, not to mention Pat's
great cooking, left an indelible memory for both of us. If you want
an intimate, personalized experience involving horses and nature....this
is the trip for sure! By the end of 3 wonderful days, saying good-bye
felt like we were leaving long-time friends.

had never ridden a horse, and quite frankly I was actually pretty
intimated by their incredible size and strength. That faded away
immediately when I met the cuddly natured horses at Spotted FeverRanch.
These are the most beautiful and sweetest horses one could ever
hope to meet. I was quickly up and riding Sierra. She took great
care of me and I was riding with confidence in no time. Being able
to ride out to see the wild mustangs running free is a true spirit
lifting experience. I had the most wonderful time at Spotted
Fever Ranch. From city slicker to cattle driver, I couldn't
have asked for more and I can't wait to go back."
My husband and I had the good fortune to stay with the Bingers for
a weekend at their Spotted Fever Ranch. I am a mustang advocate
and had a real thrill riding out with Rick and Pat to see their
San Luis area wild horses running freely. But not just riding any
horse: I got to ride their genuine mustang, Billy Bob (aka William
Robert). He seemed to know his wild cousins and beckoned to them
several times! Some of the mustangs approached closely and stared
at us. It was an experience of a lifetime..viewing mustangs from
the back of one! Meanwhile, hubby went off to do some fly fishing
on the Conejos River. He did not capture dinner for us that night,
but Pat more than made up for it with her marvelous spread. We felt
welcomed, comfortable, very well fed, and very entertained! We hope
to get back there again!

We spent a phenomenal weekend with Rick and Pat Binger at their
Spotted Fever Ranch in Southern Colorado. They were the perfect
hosts with excellent and comfortable accommodations, absolutely
delicious and creative meals and they provide an opportunity NOT
TO BE MISSED. They have wonderful, gentle, safe horses that took
us through beautiful country as we were able to view Mustangs in
their natural habitat. It was a once in a lifetime experience. We
became special friends for the future. We highly recommend their
Ranch as a unique Western experience.

I am not new to travel or adventure but my weekend vacation at Spotted
Fever Ranch will remain one of the most memorable experiences
of my life. You leave with a sense of pride and a true appreciation
for nature and of course beautiful Colorado. From the first day
of horseback riding through the San Luis Valley to see the most
majestic creatures in the true form moving through the valley to
the second day of herding up the long horns; you feel free and humbled.
Most of all the company of Pat and Rick Binger is wonderful, they
are real people and I enjoyed spending time with them, they are
very welcoming and make you feel at home immediately. Without a
doubt I will be re-visiting Spotted Fever Ranch in the near
I spent my 52nd birthday at Spotted Fever Ranch, and I cannot
think of a better way to have celebrated this milestone! I love
horses and great food. Throw in good company, a comfortable atmosphere,
stunning scenery AND a birthday cake, and you have Spotted Fever
Ranch. Pat and Rick went out of their way to make this a memorable
trip. It worked! Ill be back!
Spotted Fever Ranch provided the perfect weekend get-away
for our family. Pat and Rick Binger graciously opened their home
to us and filled us with wonderful company, food and conversation.
The highlight of our visit was our day long trail ride to view Mustangs.
During the ride, the Bingers anticipated and provided for our every
need. Our teenage daughters can't wait to go back!

Wide open spaces,
blue sky from horizon to horizon we ride well-mannered horses
towards the valley of the Rio Grande River. As we cross a low ridge
we see a dozen or more wild horses mares, foals and the ranking
stallion. They are so close we can see the whites of their eyes
as they show their surprise at our sudden appearance. They gallop
in an arc around us and stop momentarily further down the ridge
as though they are bidding us farewell. Then they whirl about and
vanish over the ridge. For a moment we sit astride our horse in
silence overwhelmed by the beauty and the demonstration of
freedom we have been privileged to witness.
